Ron’s Big House

The cabin was perfect! We rented two side-by-side to host our wedding guests and it worked perfectly! We were all able to hangout one evening for a campfire and the next for the wedding reception. The cabins are spacious but cozy feeling and perfect for groups!

Our stay at Ron’s Big House was extremely disappointing and concerning. Upon arrival, we immediately noticed black mold in the bathroom. Unfortunately, because of the late hour we arrived, we had no choice but to sleep there the first night, which led to everyone waking up sick the next morning. The cabin overall felt dirty cobwebs everywhere, unkept, and not welcoming.We reached out to the rental company but received no response, so we had to drive 25 minutes to their office. We were told we might be able to move but would have to wait for confirmation. This forced us to put our plans on hold and disrupt our trip. Later, we were relocated to Clifftop Haven, which was wonderful we highly recommend that cabin.While we did receive a $395 refund, it doesn’t make up for the wasted time, the inconvenience of repacking and moving, and most importantly, the risk to our health. Some in our group even considered sleeping outside and avoiding the bathroom altogether because conditions were sobad

WELL KEPT OLD COTTAGE, CLEAN WITH SPACY ROOMS IN MIDDLE OF WOODS WITH HOT TUB AND FIREPIT. APPLIANCES IN GOOD CONDITION.
PRIVATE AND QUIET SURROUNDINGS WITH PARKING ON SITE.
ONLY NEGATIVE WERE BATHROOMS WITH BAD ODOR AND SLOW OR CLOGGED DRAINS.

Although the location near RRG is convenient this cabin has seen better days. There were a lot of maintenance issues that required us contacting the company to attempt to fix. No hot water, dirty/seen age on everything and dust and trash under furniture. In addition, the sink in the kitchen leaked and the faucet broke.

great place ,great location but not so easy to get to..clean cabin (some issue with mouse in the house) but otherwise all good.

Nice basic cabin but could use some new beds. It’s a secluded area so make sure you bring supplies with you. Not many stores close by.

Ron’s big house is in need of a deep cleaning and a good round of maintenance. House was smaller than expected. Surroundings were beautiful and peaceful but house was difficult to find. Windows are missing screens so we couldn’t open them all. Flooring would bow near the upstairs bathtub when stepped on. Upstairs bathtub does not drain well, holds at least an inch of water the whole time you shower. Multiple spots of water damage on the inside ceiling. Grill was dirty and no cleaning supplies were available. Also the extensive list of “what if” fees was excessive. $50 if you accidentally lose a key? That’s crazy.

Beautiful stay so relaxing

Our group really enjoyed our stay at Ron's Big House! I highly recommend this place to anyone with a big group that is looking to stay in the Red River Gorge.

Nancy’s cabin “Ron’s Big House,” was a wonderful getaway for my group. We enjoyed the location and the amenities that the cabin provided. Nancy’s cabin was exactly what she described it as in the listing. We will definitely be coming back again soon!

Great space for a group! Large bedrooms, easy instructions and beautiful surroundings. A few members of the group appreciated the large bathtubs. The back deck overlooked a pond and was a nice hang out spot. The check in staff at the main office were very friendly. This was our first time in the RRG area and there was so much to do and see we couldn’t fit it all it. We would love to rebook next time we come back!

- Kitchen is poorly stocked.
- the washer and dryer each has a knob missing. There was a pair of pliers left there to use, but turning was very difficult. The dryer especially took many attempts to turn on.
- there were loose and broken tiles in front of the fireplace
- Upstairs bathroom diverter very wobbly
- downstairs bathroom. On arrival the hot water did not come on. We realized it was turned off under the sink. But turning it on left the water on and never did shut off with the handle. every time we wanted to use it, we had to turn it on from underneath
- hair dryer is filthy and not usable
- Hot tub bubbles would not come on and there were no instructions on how to do it
- the TV is defective. When you turn it on, it takes about 20 minutes for the lines across

The heavily wooded property and surroundings are beautiful. The drive through the neighborhood to get to the cabin would be very challenging in snow/icy weather. The cabin had plenty of room and the kitchen was stocked with the essentials, albeit not very clean, organized and everything mismatched. We stayed just after Christmas but there were no holiday decorations. The cabin is sparsely decorated and decorations and furnishings are worn and dated. Like in other reviews, the gas log fireplace does not work right. I contacted the office (very friendly) and was told to not use the timer dial. However, the timer controls the gas to turn on the flames. The cabin was clean-ish; it definitely needs a deep, thorough clean and needs a cleaner that has attention to detail like cleaning under beds, getting cobwebs, dusting light fixtures, wiping down outside furniture etc. The hot tub worked but, like everything else, is worn and dated. Had great family time but wouldn’t stay here again.

Great spot for large groups. Rooms, bathrooms, living rooms, and kitchen were clean and well furnished. Pots and pans supplied, but would bring your own if you need specific items. Had a large amount of plates, cups, and cutlery. Had a good amount of towels and blankets! Host responded promptly when issue arose. Overall cabin was nice and great place to stay!!

I was impressed by the cleanliness of the hot tub that in reviews many said it was not clean. We figured that being deep in the woods, the cabin is on well water. The water ran brown for us a couple different times. We knew to just use our purified water we brought with us for drinking purposes. White towels turned brown (we used hand towels to stand on while in the bath tubs) 1 towel worse than the other) upstairs bath.
The 1 queen sized bed with the black chair in it needs some bottom support. If 1 person sits on 1 side of the bed, the other side goes up in the air.
Pleasantly surprised with all the amenities. I thought we needed to bring our own towels; but to my surprise there were plenty. Grateful for her binder that had check out policy in place, etc… We did our best.
IF one is staying at Ron’s Big House it is recommended to get there during the daylight. We tried; but it got dark real quick. Definitely challenging to find in the dark when it’s your first time. Ty Nancy! ❤️

Our group had a great stay! Would come again

It was okay overall

This place the perfect size for a girls trip!. There was 12 of us all together and there was plenty of room. It was a peaceful drive to the cabin and a good time all around. The only thing i would say is the jacuzzi tub jets and filter looked like it hadn't been cleaned in awhile. Other than that, it was a very nice place and would stay again.

We took a family vacation to see the gorge. Nancy's place was great very relaxing tucked in the woods. The roads to get back there took getting used to very windy and narrow. Other cabins were nearby but you really don't notice them. We would definitely stay again if in the area.

The place was clean and beds were comfortable. We had some issues getting the hot tub to work correctly. We were surprised to see how close the neighboring cabin was as it didn’t appear in the pictures that it would actually be as close as it was. Overall we had a pleasant stay.

We needed a whole bunch of beds, and a couple showers to revive ourselves after some long days climbing. Big Ron's provided just that. A rustic, nostalgic mountain stay. My only reflection was that you are surrounded by other cabins, so if you're seeking complete seclusion this might not be exactly your spot. With the windows closed and AC on, we slept like angels though.

I celebrate my birthday at The Red every year but this was my first time with Scenic Cabin. I really enjoyed their kindness and effective communication throughout the booking process and stay. We loved every minute of our stay and highly recommend this cabin for anyone looking to visit the Gorge with a larger group.

Cabin was okay, was a little dirty and dishwasher did not work at all so we had to hand wash every thing.

We had a great weekend stay and knew what to expect from the listing and other reviews. Nancy was very communicative and quick to fix the few small issues we had like no spoons and a clogged shower. It fit our group of 11 easily and we enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub.

Had plenty of space for me and my friends on our climbing trip. Was super nice to come back and relax in hot tub.

Great location for hiking and other Red River Gorge activities. House as described. Just enough room for 8 (4 adults, 4 teens). Enjoyed the front porch, hot tub and fire pit and even watched an old VCR movie on a rainy day. Bedrooms were of good size. Beds are not very comfortable. It is older and could use more updating to be comparable in value to other places. But it met our needs and we had a nice visit.

A fantastic place to stay at red River Gorge if you have a large group of people.

The place was good and so was the price. not everything was as clean as we would've liked, but not a huge deal to us in the end.

We had to be moved to this cabin due to unforeseen maintenance issues and whole Nancy was very accommodating and helpful making sure we had a place to stay we were without hot after the entire weekend due to the water heater being broken. Other than the lack of hot water everything was great.
